Canadian-born, Melanie morphed into real estate in her early 20’s when she and her Bahamian husband Colyn were caretakers (now known as property managers) on one of the Exuma Cays. There she gained firsthand knowledge about out-island living and the details and planning it takes to run things smoothly on a remote out-island.  She also gained extensive knowledge about the Bahamian environment both on land and in the sea.

Melanie and her husband moved to Nassau in the early 80’s to start their family and at that time Melanie also began working as executive secretary to John R. Morley. She quickly learned the ins and outs of commercial property management and leasing and eventually became a licensed Broker.

Fast forward to 2008 and it was time to move back to an out island for the quieter life she and her husband missed. This time it was to Abaco where there were some strong family ties with her husband's father, Colyn L. Rees, a well-known real estate agent and photographer.

“I am excited to be a part of the Morley team again here in Abaco.  It was always satisfying to me to be able to find the perfect space for people to operate their business, whether it was a storefront, an office space or an entire building.  Now I am equally excited to be helping both Bahamians and international buyers find that special piece of property or island home to call their own.”

An avid gardener, Melanie enjoys exploring the far reaches of Abaco for native must-have additions to her garden. She also has her two sons and their families, which includes two young grandsons living close by, and enjoys boating and beachcombing with them.
